Are you trying to compile your default set of kernel configuration options from a 2.6.25 kernel in to a 2.6.15 ? It might be that you are trying to include a specific option from 2.6.25 that was broken/ not completed on the 2.6.15 kernel. I doubt that its an issue with your the specific distro or environment that you are running.
