I am new to GMII interfaces and I am tasked to bring up a board that talks to a Phy (Gigabit Ethernet Transceiver) on a GMII interface. What is the typical way to debug a bus like this? I am using a MIPS core processor. I am used to debugging 60X, SPI, and I2C, but I don't know where to start here.
