Hi Guys,
I am using a lot of old HC705P6A devices but my programmer died and its not available any longer. Does anyone have, or know where I can get a cost effective programmer for this microcontroller?

--- Depends on what you consider cost-effective, but here's a start:
There's also a pretty good definition of the programming algorithm in the data book, so if push comes to shove and you have to build one, and you don't have the data book, it's here:
as is:
AN499 Let the MC68HC705 Program Itself.

It's on the menu of my eetools ChipMAX2.

A Needhams EMP20 (with a #9 family board) will do it, and these are fairly cheap on the secondhand market (Ebay etc). M
Thanks,
Does anyone know where I might find an EMP20 programmer and adapter? I looked on ebay and there is none there now.
Cheers,
Paul

"Summarize what you're following up.
When you click "Reply" under "show options" to follow up an existing article, Google Groups includes the full article in quotes, with the cursor at the top of the article. Tempting though it is to just start typing your message, please STOP and do two things first. Look at the quoted text and remove parts that are irrelevant. Then, go to the BOTTOM of the article and start typing there. Doing this makes it much easier for your readers to get through your post. They'll have a reminder of the relevant text before your comment, but won't have to re-read the entire article. And if your reply appears on a site before the original article does, they'll get the gist of what you're talking about."

Ebay is not a fixed menu. Keep looking.
Please do not top-post. Your answer belongs after (or intermixed with) the quoted material to which you reply, after snipping all irrelevant material. I fixed this one. See the following links:

I suppose that you could go to the vendor Needham's Electronics.
Datasheet 1996, chapter 10: they have a circuit 68HC705P6A + 2764 EPROM + 74HC4040 Counter that boots from the master-2764. It does program/verify or only verify. Using several manual switches its awkward and certainly not intended for production. But with relays and some external controller one could get it more comfortable.
