If you're using a separate USB tranceiver (Philips makes them) then you can
isolate between that and the USB controller using a magnetic isolator (high
speed compared to opto) and bus-power the transceiver. This works for full
speed. For high speed, you'd need to isolate a much wider bus so the
isolation will be more expensive. I haven't tried that.
