PDA Battery

Hi,

I have a PalmOne Tungsten T3 and the battery is starting to go down hill. I've looked at getting other batteries as a replacement which raised a question.....

Can I replace the original 3.7V 900mAh battery with two 3.7V 1100mAh ones providing they're wired in parallel? Would the pda 'see' any difference between them (them being the older battery and the newer 'one')...Especially when it came to the battery-life-left indicator?

The only difference I can see would be an increased charging time and running time but wanted to check in here before I committed :-)

Cheers,

Michael

Hi, Michael. Wouldn't do it myself. First, batteries wired in parallel won't either charge or discharge evenly. This won't work well with the charging cycle, either.

Second, I'd guess most of your irritation with battery life has to do with nursing the original past the end of its useful life.

Of course, the PDA itself doesn't mind -- well-regulated voltage is the same no matter where it comes from. You could hook it up to any well-regulated 3.7V source, and the PDA will just take the current it needs (which isn't much). The only real issue is charging.

Try just replacing with a new one, and see how you feel. Pdaparts.com has good quality replacement parts, and has your battery in stock for $29.99. Remember that you need the two small Torx drivers.

Good luck Chris
