Hi, can anyone explain the purpose of the drain wire when there is already a foil shield on the outside of the wire? Is it to allow a better shield connection as the foil is quite resistive?
Thanks,
chris

** Foil can easily fracture when bent a few times and is impossible to solder to.

Yes, the drain wire is there to allow solder or crimp connection to be made to the foil shield.
