Hey all;
I've got a schematic that has a little dot on one of the legs of a potentiometer symbol. What does it mean? I'm guessing it must be marking one of the legs, but I'm not sure which one.

I thought I invented that. It means "clockwise" to me.

"CCW" takes up more space on the page than "CW" does so the shorter one is the one that was chosen. It appears that 2 letters was to great a burden so someone abbreviated it even more (adding ambiguity).

OK, so how does one go about finding which terminal is the CW one? Do you look at the pot from the front (shaft) side or the back?

Find the 2 terminals that don't change resistance when you tweak the pot. Connect the meter to one of those and to the 3rd terminal. Crank the shaft clockwise; if the resistance goes DOWN, that's the CW terminal.
