556 Timer

I'm very new to this elecrronic stuff, but I was able to do what I needed with the 555 timer, but I am lost with trying to get the 556 to do what I need.

I'm using a 556 timer and below is what I would like to happen. If anyone can make up a schematic or something to get me going in the right direction I would surely appreciate it. Please contact me if more information is needed.

With Mercury switch closed (1st timer) Turns on Buzzer for 2 seconds (which I want) unless switch stays closed Gives power to second timer (momentary switch) even if the 2 seconds on the 1st timer has elapsed. With Momentary switch closed (2cd timer) Sends power to a LED Continues to stay closed till 1st timer switch is activated again

Thank You for Your Time,

Dave

Your 556 is two 555s. Look at pin layout diagram, and simply map the signals to the other pins. If I remember right, one 555 is on one side and the other is on the other. You can't put a 556 in the same socket as a 555 and have it work.
