I think you got lucky.

The cpu is strapped into place by the bar pretty tight.

Can't remove it simply when the bar is in place.

The socket is also shifted by the bar.

It's looking quiet dangerous too me !

But then again.

I could have bend the pins while I was cleaning the chip...

Only a few side pins where slightly bent ;) and maybe one somewhere in the middle slightly ;)

Bent pins = Scary = Stuff of horror nightmares ! LOL.

Like removing two opposite-polarity magnets from each other: TWIST it slightly to break it loose before pulling on it.

Warming the paste could even harden it ? (Warming paste tip was from me and an unproven theory/tip)

Ja die tip kwam van mij en dat is een onbewezen tip.

Voor hetzelfde geld wordt de pasta er warmer van !

Was het artic silver 7 dat op de cpu zat ?

En hoe lang hebben de cpu en heatsink aan elkaar gezeten en hoeveel is de pc gebruikt, allemaal variablen die een rol kunnen spelen.

Tot slot heb ik extra veel paste gebruikt om ervoor te zorgen dat ook de hoeken van de cpu besmeurd zijn... misschien heb jij minder gebruikt... maar daar wordt ik dan weer zenuwachtig van :)

Zoals iedereen die ook maar een *beetje* verstand heeft van zaken je had kunnen vertellen, is er zoiets als *teveel* koelpasta.

That's all you need. You're not trying to turn the thing completely around; only enough to break the grip of hardened goop. The twist needs be only a few degrees.

FAR more likely by pulling on the thing. Down in the socket you have about 100 pins all holding it steady; they all are pretty sturdy; and ALL are held in place tightly.

You're talking to people who do this ALL the time; so listen up!!!

Um ... Asking for advice, and then not listening to the advice given by those who do such things for a living, is what's really dumb.

Twist it. Push DOWN when you twist, don't pull up; and only twist until the heatsink breaks loose from the CPU. If it doesn't work one way, then twist the other. You aren't trying to spin the thing; just work it loose before removing the heatsink.

Ik denk zelf dat die microscopische kleine kleef paste door mijn vinger's huid gaat en zo in mijn bloed terecht komt.

Wat het daar aanricht, niemand die het weet ? ;)

Hoewel ik toevallig over een paar dagen onder de MRI scanner lig met mijn hersens.

Mochten mijn hersens opeens uit elkaar spatten, dan komt het vanwege die paste !
