What's dc-couple/ac-couple mean?

Dec 19, 2005 11 Replies

I found that same input signal of the ic require the dc-couple. what the mean of dc-couple? pls advice..

Vcc Mean of DC couple = ----- 2

dc coupling is with a direct path or a component that allows dc flow, such as a resistor. ac coupling is with a capacitor or a transformer (only ac signals are coupled)

He means "meaning" of DC couple, which I believe is a cohabiting pair of human beings of different genders.

thanks for your advice. it means that IC pin mention 'dc-coupled' allows the Vcc/2 dc flows to the pin? that have any window of the dc if my dc is not same for few samples?

They were pulling your pizzer. AC coupled in this sense means that the signal is connected via a capacitor or transformer so that only the dynamic part of the signal appears at the device's input pin.

As any fule kno.

I'd expect better use of English from someone in Singapore.

To be honest - if you *need to ask* it means you haven't understood something *really basic*. I suggest more study and listen to the lecturer properly.

Independent study may also prove helpful. Google is your friend.

He or she could be a foreign student- but how do you figure Singapore? I see Queensland in Oz.

Really ? A Singapore ISP is what I got from the IP.

DC coupled means the frequency response will go down to DC. AC couples means the freq response will go down to some finite freq determined by the time-constant of the coupling capacitor and the input Thevenin resistance.

DC coupling would be mandatory if you have an amplifier to power say a DC motor for a servo.
