W98 USB mass media driver

anyone have a link to a driver for a USB flash drive that works on W98 non- SE? I bought one and it turns out that W98 1st edition(FE) does not have the drivers and the manufacturer does not support W98FE.

that's AFTER CompUSA's web site said it worked with "W98/SE",which I took to be W98 *and* SE,as other similar items on the site said "W98SE only." (no "slash")

Otherwise,I would not have bought it.

It's confusing but here is the background:

Win98 comes in various variants! Win98 first edition doesn't support USB but you can load a USB package for it at Microsoft. Don't ask me about the exact name! Even if your PC support in hardware USB, you cannot use it!

Win98 second edition (i.e. Win98SE) had the USB support already built-in. Here you need the USB hardware on the motherboard too ;-)

With Win98SE you have a good change that you can install your "USB flash drive" driver w/o problems.

BTW: WinME doesn't need a extra mass storage driver if you use USB drives. AND WinME supports additionally to the old one a newer USB driver API. So sometimes devices will work with WinME and newer only!
