I've never heard of a 100A branch circuit, in household mains. For that, you'd need 200- or 300-A service, which might be a special order, depending on what's in the street.

When I was in Madegascar ( a God forsaken place ) during WW2, we boiled water to make a mug of tea by immersing a pair of spoons in the mug of water and connecting them to the petrol-electric generator.
Although near the Equator, we couldn't find a magnifying glass. ========================================
Around here for new construction 200A services are pretty much standard it seems.
This explains a lot. You shouldn't have used aluminum spoons.
Don't mind the Grise ball. He overdosed in the '70s and doesn't know what's going on in the real world. I've seen 400 amp service to homes with electric heat in Ohio.
My house in Oregon with electric heat had a 60A service...
How many square feet? I saw one house here in Florida with 400 Amp three phase service because of the elevator and the 12" deep well pumps.
1100 square foot 3 bedroom house.
Ouch.... now that is power.

I think the principle involved here is mostly BF&I.
There are many organic semiconductors present and functioning in everyday organisms. Human bone works as a semiconductor in the body at sub-microampere levels, at very low frequency and DC.
Generating light is the last thing that practical semiconductors need to do, and if they're being used intelligently, they will generally not stink, in the process of doing so.

That is a lot of power - Were running a 400A 208V 3 phase service to my business! It's enough to run 2 large reflow ovens, 2 complete automated assembly lines (which can chew some power), elect heat (and it gets cold at times here), wave solder machines, enviro chamber, lights, manual production, compressor, soon to be AC/heat pump if it ever arrives, etc. We may have some problems when we upgrade one machine though, which might chew up most of that 140 some kVA's we have coming in the building! :-(

This was the main service to their house, a small office building and one of the large water wells for their business. They had a backup three phase generator for their house and office buildings, and an auxiliary diesel pump to keep the water flowing on the thousands of acres. When they shut the nursery down, part of the estate was to be converted into an 18 hole golf course, and another section into a large subdivision.
UK *plugs* are fused at (up to) 13A, the circuit is typically rated at
30A. The UK mains system is designed to safely deliver 3kW anywhere in a domestic residence, in order to meet statutory minimum time-frames for making cups of tea using an electric kettle. This is the result of a time-and-motion study in the late '40s which discovered waiting for water to boil in order to make tea was costing the UK economy £817m per year.Tim
The *plugs* are fused at up to 13A, but the stuff from the socket to the distribution panel is 30A.
