U.S. accused of silencing experts on polar bears, climate change

We need to fire the managers who disagree with this and hire ones that agree with this. Don't sit out any elections!

Actually, plenty of scientists working for the government make long careers out of doing so, through multiple administrations including dominance by both major parties.

The scientists in question are employed by me. I paid for their reserch and I'd damned well like as many experts to examine the data as possible.

The jails aren't big enough to hold all the ones that have done that.

The government is just about required to have scientists and people with other real knowledge on the staff. There is hell to pay when the facts constradict the policy.

Are you that ignorant? There actually are no right wing newspapers in this town, so I read one left wing, and two middle-ground newspapers, EVERY day.

My slant on life is only right wing as regards military, and economics. Otherwise I'm laissez faire.

But I'm death on ignorance and bull-shit "science".

Unfortunately we have a lot of bull-shit "science" promulgated by hypocrites such as Al Gore and Win Hill.

You are probably right. Hollywood, newspapers, even publishing houses are biased to the left. Left being "liberal" in this context. I don't think they see themselves that way, I think they just have an agenda that won't fly with the republican party.

The really stupid thing to do is apply labels. No one is 100% left or right - and don't get me started on "conservative" not as long as GWbush walks the earth.

Come out for and against the issues and stop making generalizations based on "party" lines. I look at both parties and they look the same

- the Dems pander to the populous a little more the Repugs to the corporations.

Both parties share the same characteristics - they love money, they pander to lobbyists, they have a low opinion of the masses, they (individual politicians) only care about their own political careers. Nothing else matters to 99% of them.

Left and Right trivia . . . date back to the French Revolution. It referred to the seating arrangement of the French legislature.

Today: Innovation is left; conservatism is right. The people are left, the corporations are right

Those are too broad terms to think in. Issues count, parties be damned.

Well said. Now tell Win to deal with real issues, and stop the BS... for instance the US Attorney thing he rants on about... yet is TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLY IGNORANT of the facts (*). And knock off calling Bush (and me) "idiot" and I'll stop calling him a "leftist weenie"... just as soon as he stops acting like one ;-)

(*) If Bush had any balls he'd tell the Democrats, "Sit down, shut up, you have no standing in this issue, period".

He should have fired ALL the US Attorneys when he took office. That's SOP with Presidential APPOINTEES.

The nine who were fired were dismissed because they weren't prosecuting Democrat crimes... openly defying orders from Gonzales to vigorously prosecute voter rights violations ;-)

Major punning

Win will get the message when he starts analyzing what he is writing. He is intelligent, and we should expect a logical outcome.

Neither you or I can change that. I can understand your ire, but the fact is "people change when they are ready - and not before,"

Life sucks . . . but it is the only game in town, so we play.

A Bush with balls , , , now that would be something.

Agreed . . perhaps the election or ambivalence/ his appointees had something to do with that, perhaps he kept them on because the VP said so - or he just wasn't ready to "take office."

I don't know - from my perspective, the guy really never had a clue. He postured and posed for a year, then decided this was serious business and he should let the spin masters take over.

Agreed, he should have fired all the appointees and started from scratch. He should have acted "presidential." Take control, and have a plan - announce the plan, and just do it;, (not the mealy mouthed Rummy, Sleazy or Cheesy). He's the CIC: get on or get off the pot.

Ok

now the situation is better

Gonzales?

OK, he speaks poorly, and thinks a great deal - globally?

Gonzales and Snow are about ;par for par.

We need some global thinkers, or we aught to abandon the "global economy" and start thinking how to make the US workers more wealthy in the global economy.

I don't care which side of the isle has the answers - just, please, someone, with half a brain, DO SOMETHING.
