How about we limit private and corporate contributions to politicians' campaigns and magically much of the corruption will disappear, not so "magically".

It started with the GI Bill, and it should have been in the form of cash so they could use it to go to college or open a flower shop, as they choose. Then the price would not have been driven up.

The atmosphere once was mostly nitrogen and CO2 and essentially no oxygen. In relatively recent times, CO2 was something like 5000 PPM and life flourished. We are actually CO2 starved now.

With more CO2 and more precipitation, plant life will prosper and deserts will turn green. All those plants will soak up a lot of the CO2 that we liberate.

AGW, if it is real, will be a blessing to the planet.

The CO2 captured by them is eventually returned to the atmosphere when the limestone gets subducted and heated to the point where the CO2 comes (and e ventually makes its way back to the atmosphere as volcanic gases.

Not the whole story. The sun gets 1% brighter every 100 million years

and wasn't quite as bright as it is now when CO2 levels were at 5000ppm. We did need more CO2 in the air back then than we need now. The earth is now definitely a nicer place during interglacials when there is 270ppm of CO2 i n the atmosphere, than it is during ice ages (when there's only 180ppm of C O2 in the atmosphere) and putting enough extra CO2 in the atmosphere to sta ve off the next ice age might have been a good idea (though we probably did it at least 15,000 years before we needed to and perhaps as much as 50,000 years too early).

Putting much more CO2 in the atmosphere than the current 400ppm is probably a very bad idea for us - less bad for most other living creatures - becaus e we are extremely well adapted to exploiting the earth at it's current tem perature, and if we warm the surface up any more, our current adaptions - o ur civilisation - won't work as well as it currently does.

Plant life may do well, but probably not the plant life we exploit. Some de serts may turn green, but some places that aren't desert at the moment will dry out (much as the Sahara did over the last few thousand years). There's no evidence to suggest that rampant plant life will soak up much of the ex tra CO2 - it didn't back when CO2 levels were stable at 5000 ppm, probably because plant growth tends to be water-limited rather than CO2 limited.

AGW is real, and while it may be a blessing to some plants (which we would call weeds) it's not going to be a blessing for us.

In as complex a system as this planet, it's absurd for self-declared climate scientists to say that every consequence of more CO2 will be terrible. And why do the people who believe in AGW refuse to believe in evolution?

They don't. Enough of the consequences are sufficiently disadvantageous tha t they need to be called to public attention, and these do get more media a ttention - at least from the media that publishes stuff that the fossil car bon industry would prefer played down.

Nobody has ever said that that everybody in New York would drop dead if the temperature there increased a few degrees - though they are likely to see more storms like Hurricane Sandy, which did kill 53 people. Global warming isn't going to make hurricanes more frequent, but those that do show up are likely to be more intense.

New York's got another problem with global warming - if it goes on for long enough, the Greenland and West Antarctic ice sheets are going to slide off into the ocean (probably not at the same time). If the end of the last ice age is anything to go by, this will happen fairly rapidly, and a fair bit of the 6 metres of sea level rise in the Greenland ice sheet will happen ov er a few decades, and the similar proportion of the 4 metres in the West An tarctic ice sheet will happen equally rapidly.
