Test labs in Texas?

Sep 05, 2012 5 Replies

Hi Folks,

Does anyone know a good and honest test lab in Texas? We need to do baseline tests and then full cert tests on an agricultural type system with electronics, pumps, hoses and stuff. Safety and EMC, for overseas countries such as Australia.

Houston would be nice. Looks like most of them are near Austin which would also be ok for driving distance. I know a lot of labs, just not in that area.

I was quite happy with Intertek. I think they have an EMC test lab in Texas, too.

Thanks, Keith. They have labs in Plano and Elmendorf so I forwarded it to my client.

In case someone else is looking, here are their locations in the US:

2nd the Intertek. Also SGS, but I can't quickly determine if there is an emc lab in Texas.

Cheers

Actually, the tech we used in Atlanta moved to Plano, IIRC. He was a wild man but knew his stuff. Intertek could be counted on for consistency. The company we used before that (also in Atlanta but I can't remember their name) couldn't give the same result two out of ten times. We spent a week chasing a phantom.

Thanks, Martin, I have let my client know about this as well. SGS' web site is a mess but they can just call the Baytown, TX office and inquire. In case someone else is looking for their contact info in the various states:
