Terminal Strip how do they work?

Landscape Lighting, I would like to connect 5 12V 20W lights using



14G stranded wire to a power strip and then connect the power strip to a 120 W transformer. Would that work? Do all power strips work like that? Would this Radio Shack strip do what I want?

Rather than try to post an improvised diagram here, let me refer you to any basic electricity book for the concept "connected in parallel." That's what you want to do -- connect your lights in parallel.

If the transformer outputs the correct voltage, and if its maximum wattage is equal or higher than the sum of the wattages of the bulbs, then it will work.

Look closely at the power strip to see how the parts of it connect. It's not designed specifically for what you're doing.

That would put 120 volts on each of the 5 12 volt lights. A really big no-no.

I think the OP meant that he wants to connect the output of the 12V/120W transformer to the input of the power strip. As long as the 120V plug on the power strip is cut off so there is no possibility of it being plugged into a

120V receptacle, there should be no danger, and it will work as he wants. And I am assuming that he wants to use the power strip as a 12V buss for his lights.

No... He said 120-watt transformer. I presume he meant a transformer of the appropriate voltage for the lights.
