I'm sorry I made this post. This is just another one of John's stupid conversations that go nowhere and waste electrons.

Ehrlich has a perfect record of being alarmist and wrong. He's most likely still wrong.

He has a record of being quotable in press releases. Any convincing argument that he is wrong this time, will show up in the peer-review arena, where folk with a good grasp of the data are always ready to criticize. That could have happened at the conference, but it didn't. It might never.

If 'being alarmist' means sounding the alarm as one thinks appropriate, that's just good citizenship and social responsibility. We only had a few dozen deaths when Mt. St. Helens erupted in 1980, because the alarm was sounded in advance.

No matter who says 'It's Tuesday", it might really BE Tuesday. You want to look at the calendar, not the mouth, to check.

Approving of cutting off food aid to India, to starve the population off the planet, isn't my idea of social responsibility.
