As far as being a couple 'doors away' most of the maping services are that far off. Yahoo maps shows my house on the wrong street.

No hit for me anywhere in the last 25 years, either. Some people find their employer listed, their kid's school, the family's church and a list of stores where they shop.

It is a US based company, dealing with information on US citizens. I thought you were somewhere in Europe?

Is it more frightening than what Intelius finds?

Intelius wasn't reporting my ex-wife from 1994 and started listing her attached to me in 2009.

Why an ex-wife from 15 years in the past would suddenly appear is peculiar to say the least.

Intelius supposedly gets most of it's information from utility companies who in turn use it to assist with skip tracing, bill collecting, etc.

I notice that both services have a second tier of report which is supposedly much more detailed, but FOR A FEE.

Intelius uses a myriad of "partner" web sites to "front" or market their product under various names, and there have been a lot of complaints that people were not reading the fine print on their website carefully enough and unknowingly became obligated for some sort of ID protection service which runs up monthly credit card charges until they can get it stopped.

I question whether the types and level of information they report are exempt from the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

I wouldn't give any of these outfits my credit card information on a bet.

The fine print on the intelius site says you can opt out but you must send in a fax of your drivers license with much of the information blocked out.

This is supposedly to prove that you are the person claimed, but with so much blacked out and sent by FAX, it's really no proof of anything at all.

And THESE outfits are the last people I would want to send any MORE information to!

Somebody ought to create a cease and desist letter and get thousands of people on internet to fill them out and send them.

Or start a huge class action law suit against Intelius.

I do not understand how their collecting, aggregating and SELLING everybody's private information does not violate the fair Credit Reporting Act.

I never gave them permission to possess my information much less SELL it.

I am.

I guess you're safe from them, till they expand to engulf the rest of the world. :)

Yes, in Middletown, which is just a few miles south. It was the first American Rolling Mill Company location. It was also the corporate headquarters and research facility before 51% was bought by a Japanese company. It is now called 'AK Steel'.

Blueball is a wide spot in the road. It was named 'Blueball' in the days when most people couldn't read, and the town's sign was a large wood blue painted ball on a post along the highway.
