Russian demographics (2023 Update)

I thought many Americans liked to consider themselves fiercely independent rebels, when did cheering for the police each time they gun down some poor (usually unarmed) wretch become an honorable act?

They often they seem to say they pull the trigger because they're "scared." Certainly not the type of law enforcement the (fictional) Marshall Matt Dillon in e.g. "Gunsmoke"

You keep inventing fictional characters to sneer at. Some people enjoy sneering.

Black Lives Matter was a reasonable response to an unfortunate characteristic of American police behavior.

There was nothing fictional about the black Americans who ended up dead or the cops who killed them.

A lot of the right wing responses to the movement that showed up here did include a lot of sneering. They came from people whom one would prefer were fictional.

Sadly, they aren't.

EU has hit russia with sanctions this is Putin revenge. He can sell all the gas he wants to China, so its not a problem for him.

sure he can sell it, but he has no way to get it there. Last year Russia sold 10x more gas to EU than China The pipeline to China is supposed to reach a capacity of ~20% of what EU used last year by 2025 ...

Russia is currently burning gas because they have to rid of it somehow

Yes, 5 to 10%. Unluckily for him, most pipelines don't go to China. Only one does. The Russians currently burn s lot of unneeded gas just to keep the wells open.

Jan Pantelje's reading comprehension is down there with Gnatguys. Tree rings don't predict anything. They just record what has happened in the past.

Another source of high energy radiation - beyond solar flares - are nova and supernova events in nearby stars.

Within 25 light years, a supernova could cause a mass extinction. Within 325 light years it could dump enough neutrons to turn a lot of N-14 into C-14, which is what the paper was talking about.
