I'm designing an evaluation board where I'd like to have the lower cost of single-sided assembly, but mount a couple LEDs such that they fire through the PCB, so they're visible from the non-component side.
Is there a way to accomplish this or particular parts to use that most PCB assembly houses would support? Either a physical hole in the board or just a hole in the solder mask (this is a two-sided board so it should be thin enough for the light to diffuse through) would work for me, but I'm unsure which would be better from an assembly perspective.
