So you semi-retired much like i plan to do. 10+ years there 20 or more years here that have some retirement value, then cut loose and hang out my own shingle.

It doesn't take long to learn about buffered mode I/O and the rudiments of memory management.

I was playing with fonts and printing in 1971 and trying to get a decent printout for publishing our documentation. He might have had the idea; the tech wasn't cheap in the early 70s. Most terminals at that time only printed uppercase.

In college, six weeks is an awful lot of work to dump.

There is plenty of work that requires other kinds of training. But it is the kind of work where hands may get dirty and strength in both body and mind is required.
