Look for the buzzword "Assignment", or something like that. That means that the Hospital put a huge padded number for the item. The Medicare contractor said the book price for that procedure/item/service is "this" (typically 40-50% of the big number) and the Hospital said "We'll take it".
It'll take 3-6 months for enough stuff to trickle back to you to figure out what happened. Even longer if the billing gets screwed up.
