i pass 100 years old (should i live so long).

My pension is half that. I'd *love* a doubling of my pension, while getting paid even more than I am. Get real!

I should note that my pension is fixed, too. It's not inflation adjusted, as is the case with government pensions. While I have medical coverage, it's pretty poor so don't use it. I certainly don't have the equivalent coverage of government workers.

Again, get real!

My combined Social Security plus GenRad pension is ~$40K/year. So I continue to work. I forgot to take note that I was going to get old some day ;-) Hopefully, in 2010, I'll be able to salt some more away. ...Jim Thompson

It was the only reason I hung around as long as I did. I toughed out the last ten years just for the pension. I should add that new employees (hired in the last five years, or so) don't get any pension and those in the middle get some. I made the cutoff for "full" pension w/benefits by 27 days (hired 6/3/74).

I was referring, to JKK.

It's going to happen no matter what they do. Arnold is trying to butter Obama up so we'll all bail you out, as we slip under as well.

I'm not old enough to collect SS and no matter how old I get, it's likely I'll never be. Fortuneately, the 401K tax rules came along so I could hide some money from my highest paying years. I could/should have done more, but am OK there (unless the Demonicrats steal it). I did get out of stocks in '06, so while it hasn't grown much (10%) it hasn't hemorrhaged, either.

IMO, property is the best place to be. I'd like to buy a piece of lakefront property but am too chicken. I want to pay my moorage first. Were I a bit younger I'd likely roll the dice and take another mortgage to do both.
