I have heard FR4 called a lot of things, but this is the first time i have heard it called too good of a thermal conductor. Perhaps it is the copper plating instead, copper is one of the best thermal conductors.

FR4 is about 10 times as thermally conductive as air. Compared to a a kapton flex circuit it is way more conductive. The other design option is the kapton flex circuit one. Unfortunately, that design has one more interconnect level and more parts so it would cost more and not be as reliable.

I was flunking out of the U of M, and joined the Air Force to avoid getting drafted by the Army or, Gawd forbid, the Marines.
