Ok, I just couldn't figure where else to ask this, but I'd bet one of you guys knows the answer.
There's a connector that's commonly used on ambulances and fire engines, to keep batteries charged, and diesel fuel warm. The interesting thing about the connector, is that starting the vehicle kicks the plug out, preventing drive off damage.
What is this connector called, and who carries them?
I would ask one of the firemen; ambulance guys are no where near as knowledgeable...

I used to BE a fireman, and I still don't know what they are called. The term that I was told, was "docking connectors", or "dockside connectors", but that turns up nothing in the catalogs.
I'm sure you wouldn't believe how many search phrases I tried, without success.

What does NASA use? They must have something reliable. Imagine a Saturn V taking of still plugged in and dragging the whole planet behind.
Probably costs $10,000 each, plus the pyrotechnics to make the disconnect.
