We aren't energy hogs - any more than any other Australian (in my case) or probably American in whit3rd's case. Even 24 million Australian's aren't ma king all that much difference. 322 million American's are making a differen ce - their 4.3% of the world's population is responsible for about 25% of t he CO2 emitted.
Granting that it's going to take society wide initiatives to cut CO2 emissi ons, wasting time on cutting one's own emissions isn't really a sensible us e of time or energy.
It will take lobbying to get gasoline-fueled cars off the roads, and even m ore lobbying to get the renewable-energy exploiting power stations up and r unning to fuel the electric cars that replace them.
At the moment most of the lobbying is being done in the opposite direction by the fossil carbon extraction industry, which wants to keep it's cash flo ws maximised for a few more years. Gullible John Larkin hasn't noticed that he has been recruited by that criminally irresponsible crew, and isn't eve n being paid for doing their dirty work.
