As we approached our destination, I smiled. My wife stared at me from the passenger seat with a funny look on her face - the way she usually does when I smile by myself. "But, honey, do you know what I'm smiling about?" I asked her. She kept silent. I continued, "My memory has never been very good. I know this, and I accept it; this is why I keep a very lengthy To-Do list in my notebook. Paper and ink have very good memory. However - you can't ask paper for advice. You can't ask paper to solve equations, or give you insight into solving engineering problems. So - given the choice between having a good memory or a superior intellect, I think I'll stick with what I've got. How about you?"
Her response was classic. "I don't know."
I couldn't stop laughing after that. Eventually, she started laughing too. And then our 4-year-old son started laughing as well.
