OT: Interesting

I nearly fell off my chai the other day. The BBC site described Erdogan's new presidential (er.. dictatorial) powers as of a similar nature to the US presidential system, when attempting to explain what the change from Turkey's old system was. Pretty stunning misinformation.

US

Why do you think that? The US executive president scheme is one that pretty much nobody else has copied. De Gaulle's constitution for the Fifth Republ ic did give the president - him for for first few years - an unusual amount of power, but the prime minister and his executive ministers could be thr own out of power as soon as they lost the confidence of the chamber of repr esentatives.

?There?ll be no censure motions, no vote of confidence, no parliamentary inquiries,? and apparently no prime minister, so the new Turkish scheme does move closer to America than France.

The courts stop Trumps executive order, I bet you $100, there won't be much of that in Turkey any more.
