OT April 1st

We've got a joker in our company. I came in to my office and it looked like this,

Well perhaps it's hard to see in all the other clutter, there are pictures of my ugly puss stuck everywhere.

Scary,

What's that foam(?) thing hanging on the wall just north of the dewar, (and left of the beer*)?

  • I have a similar shape/color bottle from an Iranian soft drink called ISTAK. The flavor is pomegranate, which is given on the label in French too, this being Canada: 'Grenade'.

Apparently the fruit is the origin of the word for the weapon.. also related linguistically to Garnet and Granada

Geesh Spehro, can't you recognize art? :^) The practical joker, is also an artist. When I saw the piece of foam I said it looked like art. He colored it in and said something like, "Now it's art." So I gave him $1 for it and stuck it on my wall. (you can see my walls get as cluttered as my desktops.)

The Beer bottle is a Saranac IPA left over from last year's Trimania Festival.

Apropos, that you should ask, This year's Festival is April 18th,

The building is occupied ~50% by artists. One night a year everyone opens up their studio, and hangs out. There are numerous bands and stuff going on all the time. We convinced my boss to open up our space, or a part of it. I think we'll do Earth's field NMR (with a banana to fit in with the monkey theme.) And I want to set up, the zero path length Michelson interferometer. That has pretty colors for the artists...they are not primary colors, but these weird blends.

Anyone is welcome to come.

Oh I finally should add that next to the beer bottle is a Genessee beer can. But that's useful, I snip pieces out to use as shims.
