At what level?

Explain More, Troll Less.

Of course you might decide to remain stupid.

Must be the personnel department's idea of difficult - evaluating a quadratic strikes me as trivial (if I could only remember where I packed my calculator ...).

Of course, if they were smart, it connects to a PBX...if you put in 10 or 12 digits without rounding, you wind up connected to a recording: "Sorry, the position requires someone who can do engineering calculations."

Well, we were born stupid, or so some say; some stay there ;)

I agree it might have been better if it had been in polar notation, or even better A +/- jB, but I like the idea of a PBX - truly amusing

Classic.

Being sophisticated must make life hard.

Oh, trivial pursuit bloke then......

OK, humble me.

X=24, Y=30 Phone:=01.(y^2-x).(y^2-10^10)x10

I get 01 876 8000 but, since the dialling codes have changed the closest might be the Manchester Evening News.

If they were trying to be particular difficult -- e.g., crypto jobs or communications something -- they could make it work out such that it was obvious that base 10 wasn't being used and you had to come up with, e.g., a base that did make it work, maybe even a Galois field or something fancy.

I believe Google had billboards that had considerably harder problems than the one up there that were placed in the Bay area when they were looking for programmers.

My problem is that I look at that and go, "ahhh f*ck it, this beer tastes real good"..... And I think, 'imagine spending all that time in front of a computer sober' and then i have another sip on my beer and read the next NG post or sometimes I even go off in search of a free p*rn site that does not try and load a virus on my pc.

That would be quite a sad tale but I have problems with your perceived existance outside of newsgroups.

What if I said I was currently cooking a pork roast, whilst reading news groups and simultaneously seraching for p*rn, but I only have half a bottle of week old New Zealand white wine left.

The wife has the car too, and its real hard to balance a case of cider on the scooter...bugger.

I'd say, don't you get alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.* on your newsreader?

The correct answer is 01-876-8000 I actually saw this on here:

formatting link
and then looked around for what it's all about. The only place matching the number, that I found so far is: Bailey, Jamie E.

5173 Singleton Drive Hilliard, OH 43026 Phone: 1 (614) 876-8000 License Number: AI003769 License Expires: December 31, 2006

(I mean it is missing an area code, but what do i know =P I am not an engineer)

With '01' at the front, it's not a North American number.

And no American would say, "call us on this number", it's "at this number". ;-)
