NXP site is total rubbish

Do a search for SA602 for example, click any of the suggested link and you get:

An HTTP error occurred while getting:

Details: "no status".

Useless and getting worse every day :(

The sad thing is... they know it's horrid.

About six months ago, a couple of bright young NXP folks arrived at my place of employment, to present to us a roadmap about their new-product developments in technology areas we're involved in.

The offerings sounded reasonably decent.

At the end of the presentation, I said "I'm concerned, though, about everything I've been hearing about NXP recently. You're developing a bad reputation. A lot of engineers on the Net say that it's difficult or impossible to get any sort of technical information or support or product samples from your company, unless one is already buying $10M of product per year. And, your website is one of the poorest in the trade."

They looked at each other, and one of them replied "Well, let's be honest here. It *is* the worst one."

Doesn't sound as if anything has changed lately.

Yabutt, goto the Varitronix or Densitron websites, you have to register to get a datasheet, then they email it to you..........

I have to say samples are incredibly easy to get, at least so far (knock on the wood).

bloody-mindedness I

Not in firefox it didn't. I was not looking for pdf (you can find direct link in google), I wanted to see the product page and current status (whether its still in full production etc). I got there through products and down the tree eventually.

I also hate those java/javascript links when you want to open them in new window/tab and of course its broken! :(

And of course the stupid popups every time you want to download a pdf.

I don't use the search web interface from the NXP site any more since they added all this annoying dynamic and scripted html, it's crap. Try Google:

First link is the datasheet to the SA602.

Reason #3 to never design a Densitron part in again.

You must have missed that footnote that said "This site works best with Windows 3.1 for Workgroups and Internet Explorer version 1.0" Ha!!!

Seriously, I've never been a fan of Philips/NXP's site. Nor their products.

Whoever believes that fancy flash grahpics and video are a proper substitute for useability needs to have their head examined. This is what happens when you marry graphic artists to website development / computers.

Nah, the products are not that bad at all. If you can find them on the site :)

It was better before takeover, but after it got really bad practically over night. Its almost as if the new owner set crapping the website as their primary mission.
