Yes in the case of an antenna increasing it's size is easier. But if a probe has to be very small it can be useful. See here at the bottom of the page:

It was a trivial question. You should have been able to work out the answer for yourself. That you couldn't is revealing.

Here's a hint. Coaxial cable impedance isn't precisely 50R - there's a tole rance on it, as there is on 50R terminating resistors. There's actually a t olerance on the consistency of the characteristic impedance of coaxial cabl e along it's length. Your light-year of coax would send back small reflecti ons from each variation - probably very small reflections, but there would be quite a few of them.
