I read in sci.electronics.design that Richard the Dreaded Libertarian wrote (in ) about 'Most awful hack job, but my kid likes it', on Fri, 11 Nov 2005:

No, it isn't. They want to force THEIR ideology down OUR throats by force of unconventional arms - civil aircraft and car bombs.

Someone here said that leftist weenies have no sense of humor. You just proved it. Also no observation skills... you missed the smiley ;-)

Do you know how many casualties there have been among Israeli and Palistinians? The suppression of Palestinians is one of the reasons that 'they' are upset.

I'm fine with that part, so far....but...

That's great. I'm all for that. However, what you describe would be seen as a sign of weakness, and would only further embolden them, rather than make them all happy and "Oh, well, that's all right then".

If you say so.

Your point just went from iffy to incredible. How specifically are we looting whose oil?

You're going more from "reasonable person I disagree with" into "raving lunatic" territory with that one.

Face it. The people who don't like us, won't suddenly stop not liking us, no matter what we do. Backing down in the face of threats is a sign of weakness, not a sign of "let's all be friends".

OK - here's where I have a bone to pick with the warmakers. What, exactly, does "seen as a sign of weakness" mean, but more importantly, possibly fundamentally so, is: What gives you the magical power to see into their minds, and into the future?

Just answer those two things, and then we can continue the discussion based on the assumption that _your_ conjectures are The Truth. ;-)

Thanks! Rich

and would only further embolden them, rather

So, what do you do, kill everybody in the world? Or only those who disagree with you? You have the weaponry, you know. You could obliterate all life on the planet maybe a thousand times over.

Is that your true goal? The end of all life, just to prove a point? (Which, I might point out, is wrong?)

Geezis what a bunch of nazi wannabes...

Sigh, Rich

I'm likely one of the least politically knowledgeable people on these groups. My comments are based on common sense, or at least I think that's what it is. I'm neither a republican nor a democrat, and would be ashamed to be associated with the likes of either party. As far as I'm concerned, they're all a bunch of slackers seeking betterment of their own positions, and to hell with the country. What this country needs is a good ol' guy like Truman.

Am I in favor of the war? Not for the reasons it happened, which likely have nothing at all to do with what we've been told. I think it was retribution for an individual trying to kill someone's daddy years ago, if you get my drift. No price too great to pay when it gets down to pay-back time. That you might end up in control of the world's second largest oil reserves likely didn't hurt, either.

The problem at hand isn't as simple as it may appear (the hell you say!). If we walked away today, do you really think the terrorists would be happy to abandon their cause? Haven't they been trying, for years, to damage us in any way they can? In my estimation, when they are willing to kill innocent women and children, they've pretty well dictated their policy. They want anyone that doesn't agree with them dead. They appear to desire world domination, which, of course, isn't likely to happen, but they'll keep chipping away at society until none of us have a sense of security. Better we fight them there than here, and they've already displayed their ability to do that. You do recall 9-11, yes?

In my mind, if we abandon the cause, the terrorists will likely see it as a sign of defeat, and ramp up their activities. Remember, they want us dead, not just out of their countries. What *do* we do?

Yeah. When the nazis get in power, that's always the way it happens - the torturing gets done by the ones who actually deserve to be tortured, because they're actively evil, not just dupes.

You don't have to base you life on hate, you know.

But well, you must live your own life, for you shall surely die your own death.

Good Luck! Rich

Well, I'd say anyone who advocates torture while calling it "humor" is very ill indeed, and needs medical attention.

Sorry. Rich

Oh, hell, let them define themselves as whoever they want to. Who needs lines on the ground anyway?

Then, of course, the oil problem rears its ugly head, and we skirt frighteningly close to the territory where the US would have to admit what it's _really_ doing over there, besides sucking up to Saudi Arabia and that other one. Qatar, or Kuwait, or something.

But NOOOO!!! That's not enough! They have to have it _*ALL*_!!!!

Not a bad idea, but it is very tough divide a country and to move people, in particular when the oilfield aren't evenly distributed. Evacuating the Israeli out of Gaza wasn't very easy either, and there were only houses, not oil.

Odd..Id say that the Jews have a much better case for being upset because of the attempted genocide of the Isreali peoples by the Arabs.

or perhaps you would care to google "oil for food + corruption" ?

On the other hand..the Left claims very little oil is being produced, so its hardly a factor, now is it?

Perhaps you could phrase this question to the survivors of the WTC, both 1 and 2, the Buddhists in Afghanistan, the survivors of the Bali blasts and so forth? Or how about the Jordanians? Im sure they would be happy to discuss the matter with you.
