Max472 for sale or alternative

Sep 07, 2006 3 Replies

I'm looking for a Max472 to measure the DC current from my PV system's charge controller to the battery, but Dallas/Maxim doesn't produce them anymore. Any idea where I can get one? Otherwise what would I use as an alternative? They suggest the Max4071 or Max4072, but when I look at the specs they look different.

My project is detailed in the latest Home Power magazine. It is an RE data logger and the article was written by John Lyons in case you want to look up the details.

TI (amongst others) make highside current sense amplifiers (Burr-Brown line) You can actually get them, too.

a more precise URL would be nice;-(

I wrote one of those app notes (actually an EDN design idea). This was a really nice part and it's a shame it is no longer made. The replacement part looks similar, but you need to roll your own current sense resistor. That is not the end of the world.
