Justice Antonin Scalia dead at 79

In some cases it's actually a guaranteed liberal win, at least for a while. Whole Woman?s Health v. Hellerstedt on the docket could give broad discretion to restrict abortion across the country if it went 5-4, but now that Scalia is absent the worst that can happen is a 4-4 split, upholding the lower court's affirmation of the Texas law, which means that the restrictions could only apply to states within the Fifth Circuit?s sphere of influence.

And it's likely that many cases "decided" by a tie vote will be reargued:

Oh, how I wish he would.

Of course, we'd have Biden as President.

Well, we can add "liar" to your list of attributes.

You just did but no one would take a jerk like you seriously.

Yep. Liar.

Neither you or Blobby can change the subject to win an argument. It doesn't work that way.

At least it would be entertaining.

I heard something the other day that Archimedes was killed by a Roman soldier for not leaving his work of study to greet a general.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

Pity about the design. Anybody brighter than krw has noticed that it's flawed.

In krw-speak, "liar" doesn't mean "teller of untruths" but rather "someone whose opinions don't line up with krw's".

Krw probably thinks that he is infallible - like the pope - but he's got a less-than-god-given chance of being right.

Around here Jim Thompson has been boasting of his plans to shoot leftists - as soon as the revolution starts. Jim seems to be fairly conservative, but his grasp of reality probably isn't firm enough to make him an archetypica l conservative whose behaviour completely defines the stereotype.

Yes.

That's your opinion.

The report is that Scalia (elderly lawyer) spent the previous day hunting quail at an upscale resort (Cibolo Creek Ranch).

It worked out well in Louisiana with ducks but Texas and quail?

There's a bit of a qualitative difference between talking about metaphorically kicking the GOP, and talking about killing individual people.

Unless your own sense of personal identity is so intrinsically bound to your political beliefs that you and the conservative party have essentially merged into one entity. And given the way that you spout off ad hominem slurs during political discussions, it seems likely to be the case.

Biden has proven to be a pretty capable and modest VP, as compared to that guy who shot a guy in the chest and pretty much attempted to make himself co-president instead of vice president. Even many Republicans like him, which can be a dangerous game to play, as palling around with the Republican party when you're not really on their team usually gets you stabbed in the back for your effort.

No term limits on veeps, so make him vice president for life. Seems like a good idea.

Are you really as dumb as you come off here? I'm convinced, now, that it's not an act.

I know enough to be able to read, Blobby. The subject was Obama's replacement of Scalia. If you were literate, you would have noticed that no one mentioned the side issue of leaving the position vacant for a year (as is the norm, in this situation). IOW, you were correct in your statement but it had *nothing* to do with the discussion at hand. Of course, you probably won't be able to understand the issue, even now that it's been explained to you.

Biden is a lifetime blabberer and fathead, and has been wrong about almost everything that mattered.

We should, once in a while, elect someone who is competent.

You mean my statement insofar as your superficial understanding of it. Ther e's no question the GOP doesn't have a chance of winning the general electi on in November, Obama will be succeeded by another Democrat.

Still too early to know who will get elected. Bernie Sanders might be the Democratic running. People say he has a problem with being electable. But then there is Hillary, who has a big problem with getting elected. Not many people trust her.

You still have a problem with perception. You need to hang out with a bunc h of good old boys for a while so you can understand Jim and when he is jus t funning.
