It's really hard to get pricing. People have no visible email address to request pricing and want you to fill out forms, which leaves no records.

Not sure which browser you use, but Firefox, for example allows you to print a complete webpage as a pdf, so you could use that as a record of what you'd filled out on the form. It gets a little more messy if you have start filling out a form on one page before moving onto the next part of the form on another page, as you'd have to print each page in turn. But it can be done.

It's a lot easier to buy from Mini-Circuits.

Yes And I sometimes just take a picture with my Xiaomi smartphone in HD format. Also always have an xterm running that I can get in front and type import 'webpage_name.gif'

man import NAME import - saves any visible window on an X server and outputs it as an image file. You can capture a single window, the entire screen, or any rectangular portion of the screen.

Also Chromium can save to a PDF format ("Print" --> Save as PDF).

Hint: specify the file type as the filename's extension if you're not happy with PNGs.

Seaching my email is easy. Searching a zillion screen shots is not.

Cutting and pasting or forwarding, ditto.

Filling out a giant form just to see a datasheet is equally dumb. Another good way to not sell.

When a form asks me what country I'm in, I always pick the first one on the list, usually Azerbaijan.

Their education system isn't all that good. The US education system isn't great either, but Tulane is probably down to Azerbaijan standards. You may be being more informative than you realise.

I got a full scholarship and it was a 10-minute bicycle ride from home and it was the #1 or maybe #2 party school in the USA.

No complaints.

Tulane does have a superb medical school. I got involved in that some too.

Bad schools don't teach their students how to recognise a bad school. They tend not to know enough to realise how bad they are.

My Chemistry Department at Melbourne only hired their own graduates for some twenty years after I left. They got to realise that this wasn't a good policy, but their first attempt to refresh the faculty didn't work

- the guy went back to America after 18 months. The next attempt worked better. He was Australian, but at least from another state. He and I had published a paper together when he was working in England. Then they hired a professor from Tasmania, who had gone through primary school with me. It was a bit strange.

I just wanted an EE diploma. I went to the minimum of classes and faked all my lab reports. I was working outside of school full-time designing electronics.

I designed flight hardware for the S1B moon rocket and the C5A airplane, and several marine engine control systems, and pipeline supervisory controls, while I was still in college. Got married too.

Faking lab reports can be an educational process. I didn't and got to find out that my non-faked lab reports kept on showing up for years - I had lent them to other chemistry students in my residential college, and some of them had - on occassion - been silly enough to copy them, which would have been less educational.

There's a lot of low level design in even the most advanced projects.

Sometimes it doesn't get done all that well. At Cambridge Instruments we'd get stuck on "mods" between projects, where the production test people would complain about some low level feature of a circuit in production, and we'd have to work out if the complaint was well-founded (and it often wasn't) and fix it if it was.

The booster stage had an early PCM data acquisition system, a big analog mux and an ADC and downlink telemetry, all done with discrete transistors.

The system hit every input roughly twice a second, and they wanted to resolve some events to milliseconds. So we designed the Time Correrlation Unit, a triggered linear ramp generator that they could sample and figure out when the event happened.

I still use the technique for picosecond time stamping.

We had a little company, TANO Corp, in a space above the River Rondevous bar in New Orleans. NASA thought it was good politics to give business to local companies.

We did a fun telemetry system for the Mississippi Test Facility that accidentally discovered things about the mating behavior of alligators.

Nuclear physics has relied on it from way back. The single photon counting gear that was in use at Southampton University when I was a post-doc there back in 1971-72 was built around that kind of circuit, and it had been around for a while even then.

With a local oscillator slow enough to have been practical back then. Faster oscillators have less jitter, but you have to put together a more complicated system to take advantage of that.

Their mating calls were at an inconvenient frequency?

We built a bunch of boxes, up on telephone poles, to measure the noise from the Saturn engine tests. They were low to subsonic frequency ranges, and we FM modulated a carrier and sent it over leased lines back to the central MTF site.

NASA saw occasional bursts of subsonic noise and initially suspected oscillations in our electronics. It turned out to be subsonic mating calls of bull alligators.

The big reliability problem was local yokels shooting at the Hoffmann boxes up on the poles.
