Is Fax Dead Yet?

A skosh more assurance the order came from a Real General (or some other authorized person) rather than some flunky operating the FAX machine who felt like shelling his ex-mother-in-law's house? (But again then we're just back to "how hard is it to forge a signature, especially if the person looking at it isn't too discerning?")

Well, he's not goofy, just kinda old-school. Oh, and another thing I might have neglected to mention is that I've learned to operate Auto- Cad to a certain degree, and I do drawings. The guy's a tube bender and he wanted me to translate his 3-view drawing of somebody's tube into a set of coordinates and stuff for his mandrel bender. I'm not actually making any money by electronics these days, but s.e.d gives me an opportunity to enjoy electronics vicariously. I'm more like a recycled hobbyist these days. :-)

The security of a good cryptography system is related to its resistance against a brute-force attack, and the computing time for such an attack scales with key lenght. But long keys may become unwieldy, so 128 bits may be considered plenty for a low-criticality task at hand and 1024 bits may be necessary for very sensitive data that mustn't be cracked in the next, say, forty years.

Of course a 1024 bit key with a crappy system may be worse than 128 bits in a good system

Yes, as a matter of fact. Actually, I think I'm so smart that the letterhead on my invoices says: "Rich Grise, Contract Inventor". ;-) One of these days, when I can afford a fresh color cartridge, I'm going to print up some business cards with that alongside my logo. :-)

With some limitations I suppose such as no biological inventions. I heard some company is offering a 1 million dollar reward for fake chicken meat that is not made from meat.

But let's say I came up with a fake chicken process... Would I fax it or email it? I think neither ...

I'd use a courier or deliver it in person.

Bullshit. Almost every cryptosystem is far weaker than a brute force attack. Brute force is a stupid way to attack a crypto system.

I find that more an more businesses do. Probably about 1/3rd of my clients are mostly paperless these days.

My impression as well. Most folks do not know what that is.

That's why I use Adobe... the only thing scanned is the signature, the text remains as originally generated.
