Inductance with DMM?

Can anyone tell me how I can measure coil inductance with a DMM without a special add-on circuit?

Thanks,

Find a DMM with an inductance range.

Do you have any other test equipment that we can also hook up?

I do have one with inductance, but feeding a signal into the inductor and resistance should give you a voltage that will indicate inductance. I can't remember if the meter i have also measures capacitance, but the procedure is the same.

Basically... Put a sine gen on a RL cct and use the DMM to measure the AC level across the coil. Then do math.. Beware of the limitations and restrictions.. D from BC

DMMs with capacitance ranges are common enough, but I've never seen one with inductance - it probably wouldn't be very accurate if you did find one.

Peak Atlas instruments do a LCR meter for about the price of a good DMM.

ARRL Radio Amateurs Handbook had(has?) a circuit for measuring inductance with a DMM. IIRC,there was a company that offered a kit of parts + PCB,too.
