Sweet, and well lit!
nice Resume'
Cheers
All it takes is time and money, lots of time and lots of money. Oh and being single would probably help :)
Wow, this guy is hardcore. That's about what I want my barn to look like, after I build a barn.

Good God!
I've been in small businesses and medium size ones that weren't that well equipped!

Ask your friend if he has one. Wait for the front end loader to drop it off. Project accomplished! However, all things considered, I'd suggest dreaming of (and then building) the "shop that is not a garage" though it might be best for eventual resale to put a garage door on it - but choose a nice quality well-insulated garage door. Not having to muck with basement stairs is good when the toys get big.

I have a buddy who has several houses on his property (all of which he owns -- but doesn't want "tenants"). So, he has converted each to a particular purpose: one is a machine shop (lathe, bridgeport, etc.), another is full of auto parts (engines, etc.), another full of plumbing supplies (don't ask me why anyone wants a houseful of WC's! :> ), etc. Along with a front end loader to move stuff around.
I learned never to ask him "have you got a ..." unless I *really* wanted that "..." -- otherwise I'm going to end up with one! :>
I, OTOH, am trying desperately to get half of the garage cleaned out so I can get my vehicle back inside! :-( (sigh -- what I wouldn't give for a *basement*!)

Here's the mini-lab in my office. All my engineers have a similar setup, and we have a big shared lab where we put everything together.

Wow!
The machine shop looks too clean. Where are all the chips?

We looked into moving some years ago. One of the properties we looked at had -- in addition to the regular "two car garage" -- an outlying *4* car garage, heated, etc. I don;'t think I've ever had *fantasies* as intense as when that door opened... ;-)
Her Royal Highness won't let that happen in a million years! So I have to make do with my 4 square meters :-( Actually, funny enough, when we got the house it already had the garage nearly converted into a room, we ripped the gyrocked walls out and turned it back into a garage!
And we have two spare bedrooms too that must remain empty and clean by order of Her Royal Highness!

Sorry, I cleaned up first ;-)

Tsk, tsk! I can see floor!
This photo is close enough to current:
It's not a workshop unless it's a dank, musty basement. ;-)
Incidentially, I see Maxon used a lot of leveller for his basement floor.. if we were to level the ancient floor here, it would take cement trucks to do it. It would also make you scrape your head on the ceiling...

My desk is so cluttered, I use the term "deskalanche" to describe what often happens on it.
You can still see my floor though - there's a path from the door to my chair, surrounded by digikey boxes :-)

Over the years, I have seen very many homes where the internal garage has been converted into an extra room, never until now have I seen one converted back :), though what you have with your lab is a very efficient use of the available space.
We built a 12m x 7m shed in the backyard, (google street view conveniently showed up while the concretors were there doing the path, and while there was still builders stuff sitting on the footpath) parked the cars in there, that freed up the house double garage area for a substantial workshop space. (due to the amount of paying work increasing steadily, the space was needed). The shed was also good for getting other stuff out of the workshop, like the mower, gardening stuff etc. as well as "junk" that tends to get stored for years before finally being tossed out. I keep getting tempted by the idea of putting a basic home gym in part of the shed too, but that will be for later.
Should put some pics up someday

Same :).
I am 90% sure that she would let me if I had to, but unless it was really really essential, out of respect for her I wouldn't push the matter.
