Even if it does, you can get a DynDNS account for a few bucks, and the URL will continue working despite IP address changes. (That's how electrooptical.net works.) ddclient is your friend!

Servers comsume power, you would probably spend 100 USD per year in electricity bills (average 50W consumption)

Buy a 35USD raspberry pi board, install the server dist and let that run your homepage :-)

Bytheway, the first worked, the second did not (probably my firewall)

Got the http & ftp Chrome on Win7, also logged into ftp with ftp on Linux cli ;)

Grabbed Bush_a_man_without_vision.jpg from the Linux prompt, but as is common lately Chrome often stalls while downloading files via ftp protocol. Similar issue with John L's ftp site, Linux got there, but not Chrome on Win7 via my current ISP.

You could use dyndns or similar service to track a dynamic IP?
