It's a mass illusion. The Sox won tonight. Hell froze over, and a lot of accounts are coming due.

Man, what a million-dollar idea! An Oxygen Speakeasy! "...But under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, any type of oxygen used by people for breathing and administered by another person is a prescription drug. "It doesn't matter what they label it," says Melvin Szymanski, a consumer safety officer in the Food and Drug Administration's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER). "At the other end of the hose is oxygen, and the individual that provides you with the nasal cannula and turns on the canister for your 20-minute supply is actually dispensing the prescription drug oxygen to you."
Hope the FDA never finds out about weld shops. ;-)

It is!
ISTR residual alcohol, metabolised by-products of alcohol, and the dehydration caused hangovers. The body rightly thinks it is being poisoned.
One effect being blood vessels in the brain contract, and restricts the flow of poisons - and oxygen - into the brain.
So I guess oxygen might help counter that effect. But probably not other effects.
Generally though, healthy people inhaling anything other than clean air is just evolutions way of removing the stupid people from the gene pool.

I thought breathing pure O2 was dangerous. Anyone care to enlighten me.

I had a real big night on the beer followed by the Reds last week. The next morning i got woken, so i decided to do some work on my motor drive. I somehow got myself breifly attached to one of the 3phase outputs (rectified switched 240vac) and my hangover was gone. My arm did hurt a bit. I think the ELCB or RCD (or whatever they are called now) in the shed trips in pretty quick though.

** Likely the result of huge rush of adrenalin to the brain due to the fright.
BTW
WW2 fighter pilots discovered that breathing pure oxygen cured hangovers almost immediately.
Better get yourself a *large* cylinder - way safer than your method !!!

I don't recall seeing oxygen bars in that movie.
There was a lot of smoking going on, a la film noir, and that seems a bit dodgy near oxygen bars.

From what I read there might be a cardiac arrest lurking in the system for ~3 days after. So maybe better have someone check it?
Doesn't happen often. But if it does..

I can't see why it should help. The blood in your arteries should (assuming you are well) be close to 100% saturated, indicating the hemoglobin is carrying all the oxygen it can. So you can't get more oxygen carried by putting more in.
Perhaps the lack of C02, which will cause you to hyperventilate does it.
I'm not a medic.

Certainly they are not common, if at all present in the UK.

Neither here, a small town near Cadiz, we dont even have parking meters, or a burger bar
A friend of mine used to work at a place where they made defibrillators
he got a shock from one of those once, when he told the guys he worked with a few days later they all went nuts, standard procedure when you got a shock from one of those was something like 24 hours observation at the hospital ..

I've designed chips for several ultrasound companies. Their engineers had to use a fake body for tests, they couldn't use it on themselves. Seems several had found tumors and cancers in their own bodies :-(

Being a former sparkie i am kinda used to it. I'm not so sure that it is a good idea to be working on high power equipment when you have a hangover and are still half cut.
