Do you have any pointer that proves this is required? (should one ever need to be observed..)
One could ofcourse wire a pulsemeter to some alarmsystem.
I don't pretend to know jack about them, but it doesn't seem unreasonable. Their entire purpose is to run current through the heart, mostly to stop it so it can restart in a proper rhythm.
