Did LTC also mess up their server now?

I just downloaded it with 'wget .....' so they don't use anything fancy. It is a weird name (long, with commas, etc) so maybe it's hiding somewhere on your disk? Try Save As rather than loading which presumably opens it in Acrobat Reader. BTW, I use Linux, but here's wget for windows:

Joerg claims he's using Firefox, but I don't know what version. I think he's got his head planted in the wrong place ;-)

LT's search server was down late yesterday morning. Joerg probably hit it when it was starting to have fits.

I made about a dozen tries. Also, the concept of mirror servers has been out there, oh, since about a couple decades or so ...

"Firewalled"? How? Gawd help you, you're not using Windows Firewall are you?

Reminds me... my new Lenovo laptop (XP)... can reach outside world via my network, yet balks at connecting to the other PC's on my network.

It's, of course, like Joerg's, "firewalled up to the brim", and I can't figure out how to neuter its ass ;-) Help!

Nope :-)

Have you included it in the shares? Sometimes you have to let it trundle out a long time after clicking "Mshome", I had that happen on a Dell laptop after a HD crash and XP re-install. Afterwards it always worked right away.

My Network Places -> Properties -> Local Area Connection -> Properties, then check: File and Printer sharing for Microsoft Networks. All right-clicks with the mouse, not left-click.

He has said he tried multiple times over the span of this thread.

What I want to know is: Why is he getting ActiveX errors with a Gecko browser? This indicates sniffing problems from the site. I suggested User Agent spoofing as a source of problems but he has said he tried it with a fresh install of Firefox and got the same results. This make no sense to me.

Joerg, You didn't use you **OLD** profile with the new install did you?? Tools; Switch Profile shows you what profile is active.

No, this was brand new, nothing personal got ported to that PC (yet).

This morning it began to work again, on all PCs. I don't know what they did but I sure didn't change anything at this end. Maybe their IT folks should learn to switch over to a mirror site if problems arise. Even a few hours of downtime can cost serious sales Dollars.

I use CutePDF on occasion for printing when the combination of PSpice and Adobe won't allow a font/plot-spacing I want... then I clean it up and add "Form Fields" with Acrobat.

Damn! Just had to close the windows and turn on the air conditioning. Must be that S.O.B. Slowman's AGW ;-)

Late at night, by candle light, Joerg penned this immortal opus:

Foxit Reader works fine for me. It's small, fast, efficient and free. I've set it as the default reader and can't remember the last time I started up Acrobat due to some incompatibility. IIRC it turned out to be some crap in the document itself.

I was in Minneapolis (Plymouth), Honeywell Sensors Division, in the summer of 2007.

During our design review meeting, it suddenly got very dark outside, followed promptly by a tornado... did not thrill me a bit :-(

I was in Puerto Rico when the usual afternoon thunderstorm roared through, this time with pine branches and chairs flying about. Exactly then a DC-3 came lumbering in and a US pilot said "This guy has got to be crazy!" A local: "Nah, he comes in about that time every day".

I has been a few days. I double clicked and the datasheet came right up, Firefox on Linux, no cookies let alone OCX / active X. That doesn't sound so IE centric to me. In Firefox/wine i had to save the pdf file instead. Which pops right up in the reader.
