The copper tubes are heatpipes, there's a liquid inside. The liquidevaporates at the cpu end,condense at the heatsink end. the condensed liquid flow back to thecpu end via gravity and/orcapilary action in a special material inside. it moves heat very veryefficiently from one end ofthe pipe to the other-Lasse

Yes, loads eg associative memory, dataflow architecture However, massively parallel is the way of the future. The vast majority of tasks that need massive processing power can be broken up. Apart from MS Word

The biggest limiting factor is that Si is reaching the end of its run. Graphene or whatever should do quite a bit better.
