Controlling a stupid robotic vacuum cleaner

I've seen something where they used an light beam across the doorway and had the robot sense the light and treat it like a barrier.

Or you could do poke a wire under the carpet and do the loop thing they do with shock collars

yeah.

Yes, I have been to the wall.

make no mistake, 0bama pestering Russia in Syria, and now with SPD in power in government in Germany and idiots like Steinmeyer in the background, ultra right on the rise everywhere in Europe, and 0bama feeding it from his white palace, and the military wanting ever more spending, East West tension keeps their jobs.

Long time ago I posted a warning here that a situation just like in that movie that i cannot seem to remember the name of, but where rebels in some Russian area grab a silo and launch at US, followed by a full 100% nuclear retaliation, ended the world as they knew it. That moron knicker is mad enough to dance to the tune of those speculators that can make a dime from a rising ultra right, Soros started selling homes from Jews in WW2.. He is a short selling expert, I have read his book, and know his strategies, and he employs 0bama, he is his boss.

Moon has been long ago, engineers were replaced by politicians, all that is left is some clowns circling at a few hundred km in low orbit, and INSULT to what can be done. manned space flight died with Von Braun for the US. The little plastic tourist see the curved earth view projects will not bring humanity to other planets,

Yea, stupidity is almost omnipresent... a bit more in some government circles in the US. You know, I am all with Putin on the Ukraine issue, you need some stability for society to work. The western and now US based interference to gain power to get some cheap labor at the cost of local jobs here to grab some part of what is actually Russian, is appalling,

No US and Germany and I want out of the EU for that same reason, is just a repeat of history and will lead to WW3 sooner or later, sooner I'd think. A EU led by Germany is well you can guess.

OTOH wars are needed to cut the dead wood, get rid of the old complaining women club that has too much power and forbids matches and kitchen knives, and raises a generation of nitwits, so wars it will be, and else dinos, dinos's way, well WTFDIC (What The Fuck Do I Care), if dino had a good time while it was around it was OK. maybe somebody will bring one back alive and it will have a look, and drop dead from frustration again on the spot after seeing us ... Whatdoyouknow,. You have to see the humor in all this too. :-)

In WW2 when Germany came with the V1 and V2, UK scientist 'proved' it could not work and exist because you could not power a rocket to go that far with cordite...

A bit of wakeup call and name calling is OK, especially if it is true.

I am NOT a believer in democracy, I think you are better of with some specialists in power, better than Joe Blow with the nice smile and promises selected by Joe Blows... 'I will lower your taxes, read my lips', I will give you free insurance and medical care at no cost increase', 'I will give you a raise, help you keep your job', well both parties are that way, and clearly with bamama US is already way on its way to becoming a third world country, add a bit for global warming / climate change and nuking and you are right back where the injuns were, the Astecs, and those civilizations are no more. Often scientists ask: 'What happened? How could such an advanced civilization all of the sudden disappear? Well maybe all the men married each other no more offspring,,,

LOL Nothing new here, Roman empire ended because of decadence among other things (stupidity, slaves in power) in the same way. History teaches a lesson, new generations want hands on experience, same with wars, they have never seen a real one, so why not start one with Russia to see hat it is like?

OK.. Granny could not win from Russia, but maybe I can? duh.

No, just an intermission. The encore is about to begin. ...though it's apparent you've been asleep for the last decade.

Certainly you haven't noticed the last month.

Certainly you haven't even noticed your foot.

I had a ebay robot - it was absolutely fantastic. I'm thinking of getting another one. What I had to do is learn how the thing wanted to work and what gave it trouble. Then I had to make the small changes that solved those problems. After that it was bliss with the cleanest floors I have ever had.

Maybe the solution is not to teach it but let it teach you?

those ME's have gotten very clever on how to make 'snap together' packaging.

Back in 70's, the telephone add-on converting your dial phone to touch tone, called "Soft Touch", was incredibly clever at not using fasteners, just detents and 'snap togethers' It also made very loud complaining noises as you opened it. I don't know if that was intentional or just a side benefit.

If you are considering image recognition I posted this some time ago:

OK, I am re-reading that thread, have not made up my mind yet how to proceed on this, just got the source code of the thing from LG.. more than 200 MB, been skimming through the files, need to open this thing for what processor, most is just gcc stuff and u-boot-1.3.4, dunno what processor yet. runs busybox of course.... Driver for WiFi is in it too.

I was thinking simple neurons (software), not so much image recognition but behavior.. It has 2 cameras though, one looking down and one looking up, but not forward!! Oh ... Best way to get in an accident with a car, stare everywhere except where you are going, sometimes I wonder... Maybe the cameras can be used, prisms, look forward.. some ideas. should be low profile, hight is alreay a problem for under benches etc.

2 cameras on things like snails have, that can move and look under things... :-)

Jan, the Robotic Vision software was

#1: The basic software is named OpenCV that stands for Open Computer Vision made by Interl Corp.

#2: A tutorial video is available at

#3: Search in Google for opencv and what you get choices of is right below in #4

#4: the software is at

Two ways to 'increase' cameras:

  1. fish eye lense and 'correct in SW
  2. synchronous rotating mirror, slower fps, but just like having more cameras.

Since you're playing in SW anyway, and there is no real reason to keep the vision for humans.

Don't forget:

  1. Raid Bug Barrier takes out ants, or
  2. the 'spritz' from orange peel

The peel of an orange contains a powerful, long lasting insecticide that will last about a year, kills spiders albeit slowly, too.

We used to have an orange tree, once a year as the crop became overwhelming, we'd simply make a lot of juice in the kitchen. The spritz prevented ANY ants, until the Mediterranean fruit fly problem and the county stripped our tree before we could get the crop. That year ants with a vengeance came in. Plus, orange spritz [hold a lighted match and you can squirt flames over 18 inches!] will NOT hurt you or your pets.

Sadly, Bug Barrier, although effective, is NOT recommended around food.

PS: cold storage orange rinds are a bit dried out, so need tree fresh, if possible.

Have you tried it? Easy? Does it work well?

Seem a good idea, did not know that, will get some. I try to avoid poison stuff as much as possible, although last year I did set some trap boxes.

I remember we used arsene around the house in my youth.

Well do not have an orange tree, but if climate goes this way why not.. I tried growing an avocado pit and it made some leaves, no avocados... :-) Grass needs mowing agaig too.
