Computer controlled wireless mains switch

Hi,

Can anyone recomment manufacturers or brands of computer controlled wireless electrical switches?

I need to have a linux box some kind of transmitter which controls a number of mains switches wirelessly.

Or it can be 8202.11g wireless network 'client' modules with switching relays and delivered with proper driver software which makes them easy to control from scripts.

Thanks for comments and tips on such devices.

regards Geir

I expect they're out there, but if you're on a small budget and don't mind hacking things up... I'd look at combining a wirelessly controlled power strip (e.g.,

What I did is buy some 'klik an en uit' module. These are remote controlled mains switches (1kW or so max). They operate at about 430 MHz. I used a 430 MHz receiver module to sample the code of the remote into a file. Then I play back that code (file) via the RTS pin of a PC serial port, where the RTS pin supplies the power for the 430 MHz transmitter module. Record and play any code you like, I use it to let the computer switch the lights on and off wirelessly (for example from crontab in Linux). ftp://panteltje.com/pub/cracking_klik_aan_klik_uit_img_1003.jpg

You might check into the X10 "Firecracker" module. It is a DB9 plug that goes into the serial port. It takes commands from the serial port and sends them to an X10 receiver.
