Compaq powersupply "ATX"

I have an Compaq ATX supply from a P200 compaq computer. It features a 20-pin "ATX" style connector. But it's not wired according to the atx standard. How does one get the psu to startup..?

20-pin

I think you might need a converter assembly of plug, socket and the wiring. Not sure what it's called but I've seen the hanging up in the accessories section of my local computer shop.

If it is simply a pinout difference as Graham's message seems to imply, then I would recommend measuring the voltage on each of the wires. If a wire measures > 0V and < 9V, I would connect it to ground using a 100 ohm or so resistor. If it is an ATX power supply, that would most likely start it up. Some people report that not all computer power supplies will start without a load attached (all of the ones I've played with start without any load). If that is the case, attach some power resistors to the 5V and/or 12V rails.

Well I don't mind modifying it with a solder iron. But I need to figure out the start signal to get anywhere ;)
