Combining an electro mechanical joints

Hello everyone, i need help at this:



I want to make a joint like in the human arm and make it work in certain behavior. so, i know i need a stepper motor controlled by microchip like PIC16F1825 and attached to the mechanical joint. but what i need to know: 1- what kind of motor to use (how much KG can raise, the price, ...etc ) 2- what kind of joint 3- how should they attached to each other

0: Why a stepper motor? Particularly if by 'KG' you mean 'kilograms', a stepper motor may not work nearly as well as a servo motor. 1 - 3: You're not giving nearly enough detail:

How heavy a thing do you want to move?

How do you want to move it?

How fast do you want to move it?

With how much precision do you want to move it?

How many axes of motion (joints) do you need?

Why can't you just buy someone's commercially available robot?

There's more questions there -- these are just the ones that popped into my head immediately.

Who told you you need a stepper motor? As far as I can see, this would be a terribly bad use for a stepper, if you want any torque or lifting power.

But you're a googlie, and will never see any responses - answers don't show up on your desk gift-wrapped, you know.

Thank you for your time. i want the motion to be smooth, and the motor must endure weight 1 KG as a maximum. the main problem is in the connection between the motor and the joint.

1KG how far from the shaft? i KG at the end of a 10 cm lever arm is a lot different from 1 KG at the end of a 1M lever arm.

If you want a stepper, use one that can go really fast and gear it way down, maybe with a worm and spur. With a worm and spur, the motor wouldn't need to be driven to just stay in one place.

If you size it right, you wouldn't need position feedback, as long as your motor has enough torque to not miss steps. I would recommend a zero position sensor, for reference when the system powers up.
