Capacitive touch screens

Does anyone know any really good tutorials/whitepapers/whatever on how capacitive touch screens work?

I don't need to design one, but I've got a 'puter with one that's susceptible to something one of my boards is doing.

Wiki has a decent article on it. If you google for capactitive touch screen it comes up. Their article covers more than just capactive ones, there are different types for different aplications. Some are acoustic, some resisti ve as well as a few types of capacitive. I guess in that case unless it spe cifically says capacitive, don't assume. You can probably glean enough from the page to figure out what type of system it is without a stack of white paper.

Unfortunately I don't know of any tutorials.

I know how they work, having done some chip work in that arena... but I can't talk :-( ...Jim Thompson

The cell phone touch screens are an array of horizontal and vertical "wires", queried in sequence, measuring the capacitive coupling thru your finger tip from a horizontal wire to a vertical one. ...Jim Thompson
