Well, our rain gauge is presently at 2.7 inches since Monday. My pool is officially overflowing through the skimmer basket, and my entire back yard is just a series of puddles. I don't even want to imagine what will be needed to weed in a week or two, but the wildflower season this year should be phenomenal!

Same here. Why on earth didn't the builders turn on their brains and install an overflow? It's so simple. Retrofitting an overflow is hardcore non-trivial.
4" suffices out here. But I've seen a flash flood in AZ. It's a lot of water, and fast.
Well, just got back in a little bit ago after doing a little draining ditch digging. We now have had 3.3" of rain this week, when we normally get 4" a year!
I noticed that the puddles were getting bigger, so looked around the side of the house. Our backyard all drains to one side, where it goes through a hole in the wall to get to the street in front. Some rock I had put in over there had gotten silted up, and was blocking that hole. I had four inches of standing water in front of it. Took a trenching shovel, and dug a 6" wide trench back about 15 feet, and then went to the front yard, and dug another trench for about 10 feet. The puddles are down quite a bit now... ;-)

Too late for some:
I had put in 4" french drains along my patio, and another one beneath it to get water from one side to another, but this all drained through a slot in the wall on the downhill side. That slot, and about four feet above it, had slited up today, so I got to go out and play in the rain and dig it out. One of my neighbors, who I thought was a professional landscaper, has a 10" gully in his front yard where the actual drainage didn't follow the decorative rock!

I have a 1/2" line that runs to the aerator, with a valve. I'm thinking of adding a "T" before that valve, add another valve with a hose fitting... run the pump and empty into drainage ditch ;-)

Well, we have that. But it's manual operation. Peek out window, realize pool is just about at the rim, don rain jacket, run to pump house and get completely soaked, operate handles, turn on pump, tough out the next five minutes in the howling wind, turn off pump and move handles back, run back to house, sit in front of wood stove. Modern society :-)
Out here a family had an oak tree split their house in half :-(

Not easy because of all the plumbing. Still good old copper. Do the Jandys really hold up? Serviceable at reasonable cost? I am always skeptical when I see plastic stuff. Our backwash valve is a big old heavy brass monster, requiring some muscle to operate. The pump looks like it could date back to the time Edison was around.

The pool pump sounded a little funny, so Pam noticed it. I went out, and did too things. First, I took off the lid of the skimmer, which started things flowing nicely. I then went ahead and backflushed the filter. It drains into the same french drains that were puddled earlier, but since I dug out the hole in the wall, they were down quite a bit. This seemed to take pressure off the pump, so now it sounds normal.

I just realized that I hadn't directly seen a post from Jeorg in days. I think he changed his posted email, so now it was snipped-for-privacy@invalid.invalid which I had a previous filter in Agent for!
Our pool is pretty much manual (what do you expect, it is an above ground pool!) but it is only a few steps outside the back door...
